1A prayer of David. Hear, Yahweh, a just cause; attend to my cry; give ear to my prayer from lips without deceit.
2From your presence let my judgment go forth; let your eyes behold what is upright.
3You have tested my heart, you have visited me by night, you have refined me — you find nothing. I have resolved that my mouth will not transgress.
4As for the deeds of humankind, by the word of your lips I have kept the paths of the violent.
5My steps have held to your tracks; my feet have not slipped.
6I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God; incline your ear to me, hear my speech.
7Show your loyal love wonderfully, O Savior of those who take refuge from adversaries by your right hand.
8Keep me as the pupil, the daughter of the eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings.
9from before the wicked who despoil me, my mortal enemies who close in around me.
10They have closed up their fat; with their mouth they speak arrogantly.
11They have now surrounded us in our steps; they fix their eyes to cast us down to the ground.
12His likeness is like a lion longing to tear, and like a young lion crouching in hiding.
13Arise, Yahweh! Confront his face, bring him down; rescue my life from the wicked by your sword,
14from men by your hand, Yahweh, from men of the world whose portion is in this life. With your treasure you fill their belly; their children are satisfied, and they leave their surplus to their little ones.
15As for me, in righteousness I will behold your face; I will be satisfied, when I awake, with your likeness.
