1Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever staggers because of it is not wise.
2The dread of a king is like the growl of a young lion; whoever provokes him to anger forfeits his own life.
3It is an honor for a man to cease from strife, but every fool breaks out in it.
4The sluggard does not plow in the autumn; at harvest he will seek, and there will be nothing.

25It is a snare for a person to rashly declare something holy, and only afterward to reconsider his vows.
26A wise king scatters the wicked, and drives the wheel over them.
27The breath of a person is the lamp of Yahweh, searching all the innermost chambers.
28Loyal love and faithfulness preserve a king, and by loyal love his throne is upheld.
29The glory of young men is their strength, but the splendor of the aged is gray hair.
30Blows that wound scour away evil, and beatings the innermost chambers.
