1Deceitful scales are an abomination to Yahweh, but a complete weight is his delight.
2When pride comes, then comes shame, but with the humble is wisdom.

4Wealth is of no use on the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.
5The righteousness of the blameless makes his way straight, but the wicked falls by his own wickedness.
6The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the treacherous are caught by their own craving.
7When a wicked man dies, his hope perishes, and the expectation of the wicked has perished.
8The righteous is rescued from trouble, and the wicked comes into it in his place.
9With his mouth the godless one ruins his neighbor, but by knowledge the righteous are rescued.
10When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, and when the wicked perish, there is a shout of joy.
11By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is torn down.
12He who despises his neighbor lacks heart, but a man of understanding stays silent.
13One who goes about as a slanderer reveals a secret, but the faithful of spirit conceals a matter.
14Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is deliverance.
15He will surely suffer harm who puts up surety for a stranger, but one who hates striking hands is secure.

17A man of loyal love does good to his own self, but the cruel one troubles his own flesh.
18The wicked earns deceptive wages, but one who sows righteousness a true reward.
19So righteousness leads to life, but he who pursues evil pursues it to his own death.

24There is one who scatters, yet gains more; and one who withholds what is right, only to his want.
25A generous self will be made fat, and one who waters will himself be watered.
26The people curse one who withholds grain, but blessing is on the head of one who sells it.
27He who diligently seeks good seeks favor, but he who searches out evil — it will come upon him.
28He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like foliage.
29He who troubles his own house will inherit wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart.
30The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins lives is wise.
31Behold, the righteous is repaid on the earth—how much more the wicked and the sinner!
