Psalms 144
The AIT Bible
Praise to God the Warrior
1Of David. Blessed be Yahweh, my rock, who trains my hands for battle, my fingers for war.
2my loyal love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues my people under me.
3Yahweh, what is a human being, that you take notice of him, a son of man, that you consider him?
4A human being is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.
A Prayer for Divine Intervention
5Yahweh, bend down your heavens and come down; touch the mountains, that they may smoke.
6Flash forth lightning and scatter them; send out your arrows and rout them.
7Stretch out your hands from on high; rescue me and deliver me from the great waters, from the hand of foreigners,
8whose mouth speaks falsehood, and whose right hand is a right hand of deceit.
9God, a new song I will sing to you; on a ten-stringed harp I will make music to you.
10who gives victory to kings, who rescues David his servant from the deadly sword.
11Rescue me and deliver me from the hand of foreigners, whose mouth speaks falsehood, and whose right hand is a right hand of deceit.
The Blessings of a People
12That our sons may be like plants grown tall in their youth, our daughters like corner pillars carved for the structure of a palace.
13Our storehouses full, supplying every kind of provision; our flocks bringing forth thousands, ten thousands in our fields;
14our cattle heavy with young; no breach and no going out, and no cry of distress in our squares.
15Blessed is the people for whom it is so; blessed is the people whose God is Yahweh.
