Psalms 9

The AIT Bible

For the director, according to Muth-labben. A psalm of David.

Praise for God's Righteous Judgment

I will give thanks to Yahweh with all my heart; I will recount all your wonders.

I will rejoice and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.

When my enemies turn back, they stumble and perish before your presence.

For you have upheld my judgment and my cause; you sat on the throne, judging in righteousness.

You rebuked the nations, you destroyed the wicked; their name you blotted out forever and ever.

The enemy have come to an end in perpetual ruins; and the cities you uprooted—their very memory has perished, they themselves.

But Yahweh sits enthroned forever; he has established his throne for judgment.

And he himself will judge the world in righteousness; he will govern the peoples with equity.

And may Yahweh be a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.

And those who know your name will trust in you, for you have not forsaken those who seek you, Yahweh.

Sing praise to Yahweh, who dwells in Zion; declare among the peoples his deeds.

For the one who avenges bloodshed remembers them; he has not forgotten the cry of the afflicted.

Be gracious to me, Yahweh; see my affliction from those who hate me, you who lift me up from the gates of death,

so that I may recount all your praises in the gates of Daughter Zion; I will rejoice in your salvation.

The nations have sunk into the pit they made; in the net that they hid, their own foot is caught.

Yahweh has made himself known; he has executed judgment; by the work of his own hands the wicked is ensnared. Higgaion. Selah.

The wicked will return to Sheol, all the nations that forget God.

For the needy will not be forgotten forever; the hope of the poor will not perish for all time.

Arise, Yahweh! Let not mortal man prevail; let the nations be judged before your presence.

Set a terror over them, Yahweh; let the nations know that they are but mortal. Selah.
