Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said:
“How long until you put an end to words? Understand, and afterward we will speak.
Why are we counted as cattle, and reckoned stupid in your eyes?
You who tear your own self in your anger—shall the earth be forsaken for your sake, or the rock be moved from its place?
Indeed, the light of the wicked is put out, and the flame of his fire does not shine.
The light grows dark in his tent, and his lamp above him is put out.
His vigorous steps are hemmed in, and his own scheme casts him down.
For he is thrust into a net by his own feet, and he walks about over a mesh.
A trap seizes him by the heel; a snare holds fast upon him.
A rope for him is hidden in the ground, and his trap on the path.
Terrors frighten him on every side and chase him at his heels.
His strength is famished, and disaster is ready at his side.
It devours parts of his skin; the firstborn of death devours his limbs.
He is torn from his tent, his security, and it marches him off to the king of terrors.
There dwells in his tent what is not his; sulfur is scattered over his dwelling.
Below, his roots dry up, and above, his branch withers.
His memory perishes from the earth, and he has no name in the open street.
They thrust him from light into darkness, and drive him out of the world.
He has no offspring or descendant among his people, and no survivor in his dwellings.
At his day those in the west are appalled, and those in the east are seized with horror.
Surely such are the dwellings of the unjust, and this is the place of one who does not know God.”
