My Soul Waits for God Alone

1Only toward God is my soul in silence; from him is my salvation.

2He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.

3How long will you assail a man—all of you murdering him—like a leaning wall, a tottering fence?

4Only from his high place they plot to thrust him down; they delight in a lie. With their mouth they bless, but inwardly they curse. Selah.

5Only toward God be silent, my soul, for from him is my hope.

6He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I shall not be shaken.

7Upon God rest my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, my refuge, is in God.

8Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us. Selah.

9Only a breath are the sons of man, a lie the sons of humankind; on the scales they go up—together they are lighter than a breath.

10Do not trust in extortion, and in robbery do not become vain; when wealth bears fruit, do not set your heart on it.

11One thing God has spoken; two things are what I have heard: that strength belongs to God,

12and to you, Lord, belongs loyal love; for you repay a man according to his deed.
