1Then Moses and the sons of Israel sang this song to Yahweh, and they said, saying: “I will sing to Yahweh, for he has triumphed gloriously; horse and its rider he has hurled into the sea.”
2Yah is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation. This is my God, and I will praise him, the God of my father, and I will exalt him.
3Yahweh is a man of war; Yahweh is his name.
4Pharaoh’s chariots and his army he cast into the sea, and the choice of his officers were drowned in the Sea of Reeds.
5The deeps covered them; they went down into the depths like a stone.
6Your right hand, Yahweh, is majestic in power; your right hand, Yahweh, shatters the enemy.
7In the greatness of your majesty you tear down those who rise against you; you send forth your burning anger, it consumes them like stubble.
8By the breath of your nostrils the waters piled up; the flowing streams stood like a heap; the deeps congealed in the heart of the sea.
9The enemy said, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my throat shall be filled with them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall dispossess them.’
10You blew with your breath, the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty waters.
11Who is like you among the gods, Yahweh? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in praises, working wonders?
12You stretched out your right hand; the earth swallowed them.
13In your loyal love you led the people whom you redeemed; you guided them by your strength to your holy abode.
14The peoples heard, they trembled; anguish seized the inhabitants of Philistia.
15Then the chiefs of Edom were dismayed; the leaders of Moab, trembling seized them; all the inhabitants of Canaan melted away.
16Terror and dread fell upon them; by the greatness of your arm they were still as a stone, until your people passed over, Yahweh, until the people whom you acquired passed over.
17You will bring them in and plant them on the mountain of your inheritance, the place for your dwelling that you made, Yahweh, the sanctuary, Lord, that your hands established.
18Yahweh will reign forever and ever.
19For Pharaoh’s horse went in, with his chariotry and his horsemen, into the sea, and Yahweh brought back over them the waters of the sea; but the sons of Israel walked on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
20Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took the tambourine in her hand, and all the women went out after her with tambourines and with dances.
21And Miriam answered them: “Sing to Yahweh, for he has triumphed gloriously; horse and its rider he has hurled into the sea.”
22Then Moses led Israel out from the Sea of Reeds, and they went out to the Wilderness of Shur; and they walked three days in the wilderness and found no water.
23And they came to Marah, but they could not drink water from Marah, for it was bitter; therefore its name was called Marah.
24And the people grumbled against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?”
25And he cried out to Yahweh, and Yahweh showed him a tree; and he threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. There he set for him a statute and an ordinance, and there he tested him.
26And he said, “If you will diligently listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, and do what is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, then all the disease that I put on Egypt I will not put on you, for I am Yahweh your healer.”
27And they came to Elim, and there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees; and they camped there beside the water.
