Psalms 147

The AIT Bible

God Heals and Restores Israel

Praise Yah! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and praise is fitting.

Yahweh is the builder of Jerusalem; he gathers the scattered ones of Israel.

He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.

He counts the number of the stars; he calls names to all of them.

Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; to his understanding there is no number.

Yahweh lifts up the humble; he brings the wicked down to the ground.

Praise for God's Provision

Sing to Yahweh with thanksgiving; make music to our God with the lyre.

He covers the heavens with clouds, he prepares rain for the earth, he makes the mountains sprout grass.

He gives to the animal its food, to the young ravens that call out.

He does not delight in the strength of the horse; he takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.

Yahweh takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who wait for his loyal love.

Jerusalem, Praise Your God

Praise Yahweh, O Jerusalem; praise your God, O Zion!

For he has strengthened the bars of your gates; he has blessed your children within you.

He who makes your border peace; with the finest of wheat he satisfies you.

He who sends his word to the earth; his word runs swiftly.

He who gives snow like wool; he scatters frost like ashes.

He hurls down his ice like crumbs; before his cold, who can stand?

He sends out his word and melts them; he makes his wind blow, and waters flow.

He declares his word to Jacob, his statutes and his judgments to Israel.

He has not done so for any nation; and his judgments—they do not know them. Praise Yah!
