1Woe to those who devise iniquity and work out evil upon their beds! At the light of morning they carry it out, because it is in the power of their hand.
2They covet fields and seize them, houses and take them away; they oppress a man and his house, a person and his inheritance.
3Therefore thus says Yahweh: Behold, I am devising a disaster against this family, from which you will not remove your necks; nor will you walk proudly, for it will be an evil time.
4In that day they will take up a taunt against you and wail a bitter wailing, saying, “We are utterly ruined! He exchanges the portion of my people; how he removes it from me! To the rebel he apportions our fields.”
5Therefore you will have no one to cast the measuring line by lot in the assembly of Yahweh.
6“Do not preach!” they preach. “They should not preach of these things; disgrace will not overtake us.”
7Should it be said, O house of Jacob: “Is the Spirit of Yahweh impatient? Are these his deeds?” Do not my words do good to the one who walks uprightly?
8But lately my people have been raised up as an enemy: off the garment you strip the robe from those who pass by securely, averse to war.
9The women of my people you drive out from the house of her delights; from her little children you take away my splendor forever.
10Rise up and go, for this is not the place of rest; because of uncleanness it destroys — a grievous destruction.
11If a man walking in wind and falsehood lies, saying, “I will preach to you of wine and strong drink,” he would be the preacher for this people.
12I will surely gather all of you, O Jacob; I will surely assemble the remnant of Israel. I will set them together like sheep in a fold, like a flock in the midst of its pasture — they will be noisy with people.
13The one who breaks through goes up before them; they break through and pass the gate and go out by it. Their king passes on before them, and Yahweh at their head.
