1And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:
2Speak to Aaron and to his sons, that they keep themselves apart from the holy things of the sons of Israel, and not profane my holy name in those things which they dedicate to me. I am Yahweh.
3Say to them: Throughout your generations, any man from all your offspring who approaches the holy things that the sons of Israel dedicate to Yahweh while his uncleanness is upon him — that person shall be cut off from before me. I am Yahweh.
4Any man from the seed of Aaron who is diseased with a skin affliction or has a discharge shall not eat of the holy things until he is clean. And whoever touches anyone made unclean by a corpse, or a man from whom an emission of semen goes out,
5or a man who touches any swarming creature by which he becomes unclean, or a person by whom he becomes unclean in any of his uncleanness —
6the person who touches any such thing shall be unclean until the evening, and he shall not eat of the holy things unless he has washed his flesh in water.
7When the sun sets he shall be clean, and afterward he may eat of the holy things, for it is his food.
8He shall not eat a carcass or an animal torn by beasts, to become unclean by it. I am Yahweh.
9They shall keep my charge, and not bear sin because of it and die by it when they profane it. I am Yahweh who sanctifies them.
10No layperson shall eat a holy thing; a priest’s tenant or hired worker shall not eat a holy thing.
11But if a priest buys a person with his money, that person may eat of it, and those born in his house — they may eat of his food.
12And a priest’s daughter, if she becomes the wife of a layman — she shall not eat of the contribution of the holy things.
13But if a priest’s daughter becomes a widow or is divorced and has no offspring, and returns to her father’s house as in her youth, she may eat of her father’s food; but no layperson shall eat of it.
14And if a man eats a holy thing unintentionally, he shall add a fifth to it and give the holy thing to the priest.
15They shall not profane the holy things of the sons of Israel, which they lift up to Yahweh,
16and so cause them to bear the iniquity of guilt by eating their holy things, for I am Yahweh who sanctifies them.”
17And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:
18“Speak to Aaron and to his sons and to all the sons of Israel, and say to them: Any man of the house of Israel or of the sojourner in Israel who presents his offering — for any of their vows or any of their freewill offerings that they present to Yahweh as a burnt offering —
19to be acceptable for you, it must be a flawless male from the cattle, from the sheep, or from the goats.
20Anything in which there is a defect you shall not present, for it will not be acceptable for you.
21And when a man presents a sacrifice of well-being to Yahweh, to fulfill a special vow or as a freewill offering, from the cattle or from the flock, it must be flawless to be acceptable; there must be no defect in it.
22Blind, or broken, or maimed, or with a running sore, or a skin scab, or a festering scab — these you shall not present to Yahweh, nor give from them a fire offering on the altar to Yahweh.
23An ox or a sheep with a limb overgrown or stunted — you may make it a freewill offering, but for a vow it will not be accepted.
24Anything crushed, or bruised, or torn, or cut, you shall not present to Yahweh; you shall not do this in your land.
25And from the hand of a foreigner you shall not present the food of your God from any of these, for their corruption is in them; a defect is in them; they will not be accepted for you.”
26And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:
27“When an ox or a lamb or a goat is born, it shall remain seven days under its mother, and from the eighth day onward it will be accepted as an offering of a fire offering to Yahweh.
28But an ox or a sheep — it and its young you shall not slaughter on the same day.
29And when you sacrifice a thanksgiving offering to Yahweh, you shall sacrifice it that it may be accepted on your behalf.
30On that same day it shall be eaten; you shall leave none of it until morning. I am Yahweh.
31You shall keep my commandments and do them. I am Yahweh.
32You shall not profane my holy name, but I will be sanctified among the sons of Israel. I am Yahweh who sanctifies you,
33who brought you out from the land of Egypt to be your God. I am Yahweh.
