Isaiah 11

The AIT Bible

The Shoot from the Stump of Jesse

A shoot will come out from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots will bear fruit.

And the Spirit of Yahweh will rest upon him: a spirit of wisdom and understanding, a spirit of counsel and might, a spirit of knowledge and the fear of Yahweh.

And his delight will be in the fear of Yahweh. He will not judge by what his eyes see, nor decide by what his ears hear;

but with righteousness he will judge the poor, and decide with equity for the humble of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.

Righteousness will be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his loins.

The wolf will dwell with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the young goat; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together, and a little boy will lead them.

The cow and the bear will graze, together their young will lie down, and the lion will eat straw like the ox.

The nursing child will play over the hole of the cobra, and over the viper’s den the weaned child will put out his hand.

They will do no harm and cause no ruin on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of Yahweh as the waters cover the sea.

The Restoration of the Remnant

And it will be on that day that the root of Jesse, who stands as a banner for the peoples—to him nations will seek—and his resting place will be glory.

And it will be on that day that the Lord will again, a second time, extend his hand to recover the remnant of his people who remain—from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the coastlands of the sea.

And he will raise a banner for the nations and gather the outcasts of Israel, and he will assemble the scattered of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

The jealousy of Ephraim will depart, and the adversaries of Judah will be cut off. Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah, and Judah will not harass Ephraim.

They will swoop down on the shoulder of the Philistines toward the west; together they will plunder the sons of the east. Edom and Moab will be within reach of their hand, and the sons of Ammon their subjects.

And Yahweh will utterly destroy the tongue of the Sea of Egypt, and he will wave his hand over the River with the scorching of his wind; and he will strike it into seven streams, and make a way to cross in sandals.

And there will be a highway for the remnant of his people who remain from Assyria, just as there was for Israel on the day it came up from the land of Egypt.
