1Then he brought me back to the entrance of the house, and behold, water was flowing out from beneath the threshold of the house eastward, for the front of the house faced east; and the water was going down from beneath the right side of the house, south of the altar.
2Then he brought me out by way of the north gate and led me around by the way outside to the outer gate, by the way that faces east; and behold, water was trickling out from the right side.
3When the man went out eastward, with a measuring line in his hand, he measured a thousand cubits and led me through the water — water up to the ankles.
4Then he measured a thousand and led me through the water — water up to the knees. Again he measured a thousand and led me through — water up to the loins.
5Then he measured a thousand — a river that I could not cross, for the water had risen, water for swimming, a river that could not be crossed.
6And he said to me, “Have you seen this, son of man?” Then he led me and brought me back to the bank of the river.
7When I returned, behold, on the bank of the river were very many trees, on this side and on that.
8And he said to me, “These waters go out toward the eastern region and go down to the Arabah, and they enter the sea; when they enter the sea, the stagnant waters, the waters will be healed.
9And it will come to pass that every living creature that swarms, wherever the twin rivers go, will live. And there will be very many fish, for these waters go there so that they are healed; and everything will live wherever the river goes.
10And it will come to pass that fishermen will stand beside it; from En-gedi to En-eglaim there will be a place for spreading nets. Their fish will be of many kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea, very many.
11But its swamps and its marshes will not be healed; they are given over to salt.
12And beside the river, on its bank on this side and on that, every tree for food will grow up; its leaf will not wither, nor will its fruit fail. Each month it will bear fresh fruit, for its waters flow out from the sanctuary. Its fruit will be for food, and its leaf for healing.
13Thus says the Lord Yahweh: “This is the boundary by which you shall inherit the land, according to the twelve tribes of Israel; Joseph shall have two portions.
14And you shall inherit it, each equally with his brother, the land which I swore with uplifted hand to give to your fathers; this land shall fall to you as an inheritance.
15And this is the boundary of the land: on the north side, from the Great Sea by way of Hethlon to the entrance of Zedad;
16Hamath, Berothah, Sibraim, which is between the boundary of Damascus and the boundary of Hamath; Hazer-hatticon, which is toward the boundary of Hauran.
17So the boundary shall run from the sea to Hazar-enon, the boundary of Damascus, with the north to the northward, and the boundary of Hamath. This is the north side.
18And on the east side, between Hauran and Damascus, and between Gilead and the land of Israel, the Jordan shall be the boundary; you shall measure from the border to the eastern sea. This is the east side.
19And the south side, to the southward, from Tamar to the waters of Meribath-kadesh, to the Brook, to the Great Sea. This is the south side, southward.
20And the west side shall be the Great Sea, from the border as far as opposite the entrance of Hamath. This is the west side.
21So you shall divide this land among yourselves according to the tribes of Israel.
22And it shall be that you allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the resident aliens who sojourn among you, who have fathered children among you. They shall be to you like the native-born among the sons of Israel; with you they shall be allotted an inheritance in the midst of the tribes of Israel.
23And it shall be that in whatever tribe the alien sojourns, there you shall give him his inheritance,” declares the Lord Yahweh.
