Allotments for the Northern Tribes

Now these are the names of the tribes: from the northern end, alongside the road of Hethlon to Lebo-hamath, Hazar-enan, at the border of Damascus northward alongside Hamath—and it shall have an eastern side and a western side—Dan, one portion.

And alongside the border of Dan, from the eastern side to the western side, Asher, one portion.

And alongside the border of Asher, from the eastern side to the western side, Naphtali, one portion.

And alongside the border of Naphtali, from the eastern side to the western side, Manasseh, one portion.

And alongside the border of Manasseh, from the eastern side to the western side, Ephraim, one portion.

And alongside the border of Ephraim, from the eastern side to the western side, Reuben, one portion.

And alongside the border of Reuben, from the eastern side to the western side, Judah, one portion.

The Holy District Allotment

And alongside the border of Judah, from the eastern side to the western side, shall be the contribution that you set apart, twenty-five thousand cubits in width, and in length like one of the portions, from the eastern side to the western side; and the sanctuary shall be in its midst.

The contribution that you set apart for Yahweh shall be twenty-five thousand cubits in length and ten thousand in width.

And to these shall belong the holy contribution: for the priests, northward twenty-five thousand, westward ten thousand in width, eastward ten thousand in width, and southward twenty-five thousand in length; and the sanctuary of Yahweh shall be in its midst.

It shall be for the priests, the ones consecrated from the sons of Zadok, who kept my charge, who did not go astray when the sons of Israel went astray, as the Levites went astray.

And it shall belong to them as a special portion from the contribution of the land, a most holy thing, alongside the border of the Levites.

And the Levites, alongside the border of the priests, shall have twenty-five thousand in length and ten thousand in width; the whole length twenty-five thousand and the width ten thousand.

They shall not sell any of it, nor exchange it, nor shall the choicest of the land pass to another, for it is holy to Yahweh.

And the five thousand that remain in the width, in front of the twenty-five thousand, shall be common land for the city, for dwelling and for open pasture; and the city shall be in its midst.

And these shall be its measurements: the north side four thousand five hundred, the south side four thousand five hundred, the east side four thousand five hundred, and the west side four thousand five hundred.

And the open pasture of the city shall be: northward two hundred fifty, southward two hundred fifty, eastward two hundred fifty, and westward two hundred fifty.

And the remainder in length, alongside the holy contribution, shall be ten thousand eastward and ten thousand westward; it shall be alongside the holy contribution, and its produce shall be for food for those who work the city.

And those who work the city shall work it, from all the tribes of Israel.

The whole contribution shall be twenty-five thousand by twenty-five thousand; you shall set apart a fourth part as the holy contribution, adjoining the possession of the city.

And what remains shall be for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy contribution and of the possession of the city, in front of the twenty-five thousand of the contribution up to the eastern border, and westward in front of the twenty-five thousand up to the western border, alongside the tribal portions—it shall be for the prince; and the holy contribution and the sanctuary of the house shall be in its midst.

And from the possession of the Levites and from the possession of the city, being in the midst of what belongs to the prince, between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin, shall belong to the prince.

Allotments for the Southern Tribes

And the rest of the tribes: from the eastern side to the western side, Benjamin, one portion.

And alongside the border of Benjamin, from the eastern side to the western side, Simeon, one portion.

And alongside the border of Simeon, from the eastern side to the western side, Issachar, one portion.

And alongside the border of Issachar, from the eastern side to the western side, Zebulun, one portion.

And alongside the border of Zebulun, from the eastern side to the western side, Gad, one portion.

And alongside the border of Gad, at the south side toward the Negev, the border shall run from Tamar to the waters of Meribath-kadesh, to the Wadi, up to the Great Sea.

This is the land that you shall apportion as an inheritance to the tribes of Israel, and these are their allotments, declares the Lord Yahweh.

The City's Gates and New Name

And these are the exits of the city: on the north side, four thousand five hundred by measure.

And the gates of the city shall be named after the tribes of Israel: three gates on the north; the gate of Reuben, one; the gate of Judah, one; the gate of Levi, one.

And on the east side, four thousand five hundred cubits, with three gates: the gate of Joseph, one; the gate of Benjamin, one; the gate of Dan, one.

And on the south side, four thousand five hundred by measure, with three gates: the gate of Simeon, one; the gate of Issachar, one; the gate of Zebulun, one.

On the west side, four thousand five hundred, with their three gates: the gate of Gad, one; the gate of Asher, one; the gate of Naphtali, one.

All around, eighteen thousand. And the name of the city from that day shall be: Yahweh Is There.
