Then he brought me out to the outer court, by the way toward the north, and he brought me to the chamber that was opposite the separate space and opposite the building toward the north.
To the front of the length of a hundred cubits was the north doorway, and the width was fifty cubits.
Opposite the twenty cubits that belonged to the inner court, and opposite the pavement that belonged to the outer court, was gallery facing gallery in three tiers.
And in front of the chambers was a passage ten cubits wide toward the inner part, a way of one cubit; and their doorways faced north.
Now the upper chambers were shorter, because the galleries took away space from them, more than from the lower and the middle ones of the building.
For they were in three tiers, and they had no pillars like the pillars of the courts; therefore space was taken away from the lower and from the middle ones, from the ground up.
And the wall that was outside, alongside the chambers, toward the outer court in front of the chambers—its length was fifty cubits.
For the length of the chambers that belonged to the outer court was fifty cubits, while, behold, in front of the temple it was a hundred cubits.
And below these chambers was the entryway from the east, as one entered them from the outer court.
In the width of the wall of the court toward the east, in front of the separate space and in front of the building, were chambers.
And a passage was before them, like the appearance of the chambers that were toward the north; as their length so was their width, and all their exits were according to their arrangements and according to their doorways.
And like the doorways of the chambers that were toward the south was a doorway at the head of the way, the way in front of the corresponding wall, toward the east, as one entered them.
Then he said to me: The north chambers and the south chambers, which are in front of the separate space—these are the holy chambers where the priests who draw near to Yahweh shall eat the most holy things. There they shall lay the most holy things, the grain offering, the sin offering, and the guilt offering, for the place is holy.
When the priests enter, they shall not go out from the holy place to the outer court, but there they shall lay their garments in which they minister, for these are holy; they shall put on other garments and then approach the area that is for the people.
When he had finished the measurements of the inner house, he brought me out by way of the gate that faces east, and he measured it all around.
He measured the east side with the measuring reed: five hundred reeds by the measuring reed, all around.
He measured the north side: five hundred reeds by the measuring reed, all around.
He measured the south side: five hundred reeds by the measuring reed.
He turned to the west side and measured five hundred reeds by the measuring reed.
On the four sides he measured it. It had a wall all around, five hundred long and five hundred wide, to separate between the holy and the common.
