The whole commandment that I am commanding you today you shall be careful to do, so that you may live and multiply, and go in and take possession of the land that Yahweh swore to your fathers.
And you shall remember all the way that Yahweh your God led you these forty years in the wilderness, in order to humble you, to test you, to know what was in your heart—whether you would keep his commandments or not.
So he humbled you and let you hunger, and fed you with the manna, which you did not know and your fathers did not know, in order to make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but by everything that proceeds from the mouth of Yahweh man lives.
Your clothing did not wear out on you, and your foot did not swell, these forty years.
And you shall know in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so Yahweh your God disciplines you.
And you shall keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, to walk in his ways and to fear him.
For Yahweh your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of streams of water, of springs and deep waters flowing out in the valley and in the hill country.
a land of wheat and barley, of vine and fig and pomegranate, a land of olive oil and honey,
a land where you will eat bread without scarcity, where you will lack nothing, a land whose stones are iron and from whose hills you can quarry copper.
And you shall eat and be satisfied, and you shall bless Yahweh your God for the good land that he has given you.
Take care lest you forget Yahweh your God, by not keeping his commandments and his ordinances and his statutes that I am commanding you today,
lest you eat and be satisfied, and build good houses and dwell in them,
and your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and gold multiply, and all that you have multiplies,
and your heart becomes proud, and you forget Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery,
who led you through the great and terrible wilderness, with its fiery serpents and scorpions, a thirsty ground where there was no water; who brought forth for you water out of the flinty rock;
who fed you in the wilderness with manna that your fathers did not know, in order to humble you and in order to test you, to do you good in your latter days.
lest you say in your heart, ‘My own power and the strength of my hand have made this wealth for me.’
But you shall remember Yahweh your God, for it is he who gives you power to make wealth, in order to confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
And it shall be, if you indeed forget Yahweh your God and go after other gods and serve them and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you shall surely perish.
Like the nations that Yahweh is destroying before you, so you shall perish, because you would not listen to the voice of Yahweh your God.
