1They brought in the ark of God and set it inside the tent that David had pitched for it, and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.
2When David had finished offering the burnt offering and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Yahweh.
3And he distributed to everyone in Israel, from man to woman, to each a loaf of bread, a portion of meat, and a raisin cake.
4He appointed some of the Levites as ministers before the ark of Yahweh, to invoke, to give thanks, and to praise Yahweh, the God of Israel:
5Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, with harps and lyres; and Asaph sounding the cymbals;
6and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests, with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.
7On that day, then, David first appointed the giving of thanks to Yahweh by the hand of Asaph and his brothers:
8Give thanks to Yahweh, call out on his name; make his deeds known among the peoples.
9Sing to him, sing praises to him; meditate on all his wonders.
10Glory in his holy name; let the heart of those who seek Yahweh rejoice.
11Seek Yahweh and his strength; seek his face continually.
12Remember his wonders that he has done, his marvels and the judgments of his mouth,
13O offspring of Israel his servant, sons of Jacob, his chosen ones.
14He is Yahweh our God; his judgments are in all the earth.
15Remember his covenant forever, the word he commanded for a thousand generations,
16which he made with Abraham, and his oath to Isaac.
17He established it for Jacob as a statute, for Israel as an everlasting covenant,
18saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan, the portion of your inheritance,”
19when you were few in number, very few, and sojourners in it.
20And they wandered from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people.
21He allowed no one to oppress them, and he rebuked kings on their account:
22“Do not touch my anointed ones, and do no harm to my prophets.”
23Sing to Yahweh, all the earth; proclaim his salvation from day to day.
24Recount his glory among the nations, his wonders among all the peoples.
25For Yahweh is great and greatly to be praised, and he is to be feared above all gods.
26For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but Yahweh made the heavens.
27Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his place.
28Ascribe to Yahweh, O families of the peoples, ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength.
29Ascribe to Yahweh the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him; bow down to Yahweh in the splendor of holiness.
30Tremble before him, all the earth; indeed, the world is firmly established; it will not be moved.
31Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; and let them say among the nations, “Yahweh reigns!”
32Let the sea roar, and all its fullness; let the field exult, and all that is in it.
33Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy before Yahweh, for he comes to judge the earth.
34Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loyal love endures forever.
35And say, “Save us, O God of our salvation; gather us and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise.”
36Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! And all the people said, “Amen,” and praised Yahweh.
37So he left there, before the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, Asaph and his brothers to minister before the ark continually, as each day’s duty required.
38And Obed-edom with their brothers, sixty-eight; and Obed-edom son of Jeduthun, and Hosah, as gatekeepers.
39And he left Zadok the priest and his brothers the priests before the tabernacle of Yahweh at the high place that was in Gibeon,
40to offer burnt offerings to Yahweh on the altar of burnt offering continually, morning and evening, according to all that is written in the law of Yahweh, which he commanded upon Israel.
41And with them were Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of those chosen, who were designated by name, to give thanks to Yahweh, for his loyal love endures forever.
42And with them Heman and Jeduthun had trumpets and cymbals for those who sounded them, and instruments for the song of God; and the sons of Jeduthun were at the gate.
43Then all the people went, each to his house, and David turned to bless his household.
