1Of David. A Maskil. Blessed is the one whose transgression is lifted away, whose sin is covered.
2Blessed is the man to whom Yahweh does not reckon iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.
The Relief of Confession
3When I kept silent, my bones wore away through my groaning all day long.
4For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my vigor was turned into the droughts of summer. Selah.
5My sin I made known to you, and my iniquity I did not cover. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh,’ and you lifted away the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
6For this let every faithful one pray to you at a time when you may be found; surely at the flood of great waters they will not reach him.
7You are a hiding place for me; from distress you preserve me; with shouts of deliverance you surround me. Selah.
Wisdom for the Righteous
8I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
9Do not be like a horse or a mule, without understanding, whose gear must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not come near you.
10Many are the pains of the wicked, but the one who trusts in Yahweh—loyal love surrounds him.
11Rejoice in Yahweh and be glad, you righteous ones; shout for joy, all you upright of heart!
