1Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread, which is called Passover, was drawing near.
2And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how they might put him to death, for they feared the people.
3Then Satan entered into Judas, the one called Iscariot, who was one of the Twelve.
4And he went away and conferred with the chief priests and officers of the temple guard about how he might betray him to them.
5And they were glad, and they agreed to give him money.
6And he consented, and he began seeking an opportunity to betray him to them away from the crowd.
7Then the day of Unleavened Bread came, on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.
8And he sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, so that we may eat.”
9And they said to him, “Where do you want us to prepare it?”
10And he said to them, “Look, as you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him into the house that he enters.”
11And you will say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?”’
12And he will show you a large, furnished upper room. Prepare it there.
13So they went and found it just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.
14And when the hour came, he reclined at the table, and the apostles with him.
15And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.”
16For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
17And taking a cup, when he had given thanks, he said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves.”
18For I tell you, from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.
19And taking bread, when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
20And likewise the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”
21But look, the hand of the one who is betraying me is with me on the table.
22For the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed.
23And they began to question one another as to which of them it could be who was about to do this.
24A dispute also arose among them as to which of them was considered to be the greatest.
25But he said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called Benefactors.”
26But not so with you. Instead, let the greatest among you become like the youngest, and the leader like the one who serves.
27For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines? But I am among you as the one who serves.
28You are those who have stood by me in my trials.
29And I grant to you a kingdom, just as my Father has granted to me,
30so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and you will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”
31“Simon, Simon, look, Satan has demanded to have you all, to sift you like wheat.
32But I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail. And you, when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
33But he said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death.”
34But he said, “I tell you, Peter, a rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know me.”
35And he said to them, “When I sent you out without a moneybag or a traveler’s bag or sandals, did you lack anything?” And they said, “Nothing.”
36He said to them, “But now, let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a traveler’s bag. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one.
37For I tell you that this which is written must be fulfilled in me: ‘And he was counted with the lawless.’ For indeed, the things concerning me are reaching their end.”
38And they said, “Lord, look, here are two swords.” And he said to them, “It is enough.”
39And he went out and proceeded, according to his custom, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed him.
40And when he arrived at the place, he said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”
41And he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and he knelt down and was praying,
42saying, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours be done.”
43And an angel from heaven appeared to him, strengthening him.
44And being in agony, he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
45And when he rose from prayer and came to the disciples, he found them sleeping from sorrow.
46And he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Rise and pray, so that you may not enter into temptation.”
47While he was still speaking, look, a crowd appeared, and the one called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. And he approached Jesus to kiss him.
48But Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”
49And when those around him saw what was about to happen, they said, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”
50And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear.
51But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the ear and healed him.
52Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple, and the elders who had come out against him, “Have you come out with swords and clubs as against a robber?
53When I was with you day after day in the temple, you did not lay hands on me. But this is your hour, and the authority of darkness.”
54Then they seized him and led him away, bringing him into the house of the high priest. But Peter was following at a distance.
55And when they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter was sitting among them.
56And a certain servant girl, seeing him sitting by the light, looked intently at him and said, “This man also was with him.”
57But he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know him.”
58And after a little while, another person saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not.”
59And after an interval of about one hour, another person insisted, saying, “Truly this man also was with him, for he is a Galilean.”
60But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are saying.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.
61And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, ‘Before a rooster crows today, you will deny me three times.’
62And he went outside and wept bitterly.
63And the men who were holding him were mocking and beating him;
64and after blindfolding him, they kept asking, ‘Prophesy! Who is it that struck you?’
65And they said many other things against him, blaspheming.
66And when day came, the council of the people’s elders was gathered—both chief priests and scribes—and they led him away into their Sanhedrin,
67saying, ‘If you are the Christ, tell us.’ But he said to them, ‘If I tell you, you will not believe,
68and if I ask, you will not answer.
69But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.’
70Then they all said, ‘So you are the Son of God?’ And he said to them, ‘You say that I am.’
71And they said, ‘What further need do we have of testimony? For we ourselves have heard it from his own mouth.’
