1Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of Yahweh been revealed?
2He grew up before him like a young shoot, and like a root out of parched ground; he had no form and no majesty that we should look at him, and no appearance that we should desire him.
3He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with sickness; and like one from whom people hide their faces, he was despised, and we did not esteem him.
4Surely he has borne our sicknesses and carried our sorrows; yet we ourselves considered him stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted.
5But he was pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; the chastisement that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.
6All of us like sheep have gone astray; each of us has turned to his own way; and Yahweh has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; like a lamb led to the slaughter, and like a ewe before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.
8By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off from the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people?
9And his grave was appointed with the wicked, and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth.
10Yet it pleased Yahweh to crush him; he made him sick. When you make his life an offering for guilt, he will see offspring, he will prolong his days, and the will of Yahweh will prosper in his hand.
11Out of the anguish of his life he will see and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify the many, and he will bear their iniquities.
12Therefore I will apportion him a share with the many, and he will divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his life to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and he interceded for the transgressors.
