1And Elihu continued and said:
2Wait for me a little, and I will show you, for there are still words to speak on God’s behalf.
3I will bring my knowledge from afar, and to my Maker I will ascribe righteousness.
4For truly my words are not false; one perfect in knowledge is with you.
5Behold, God is mighty, yet he does not despise; he is mighty in strength of heart.
6He does not keep the wicked alive, but he grants justice to the afflicted.
7He does not withdraw his eyes from the righteous, but with kings on the throne he seats them forever, and they are exalted.
8And if they are bound in fetters, caught in cords of affliction,
9then he declares to them their deeds and their transgressions, that they have acted arrogantly.
10He opens their ear to discipline, and says that they should turn back from iniquity.
11If they listen and serve him, they complete their days in prosperity and their years in pleasantness.
12But if they do not listen, they pass away by the sword and expire without knowledge.
13And the godless in heart harbor anger; they do not cry for help when he binds them.
14Their life dies in youth, and their existence among the cult prostitutes.
15He rescues the afflicted by their affliction, and opens their ear by oppression.
16And indeed he has enticed you out of the mouth of distress into a broad place, no constraint beneath it, and the setting of your table is full of rich food.
17But you are full of the judgment due the wicked; judgment and justice take hold.
18Beware, lest wrath entice you into scoffing, and let not the greatness of the ransom turn you aside.
19Will your cry for help avail, apart from gold, or all the exertions of your strength?
20Do not pant for the night, when peoples go up in their place.
21Beware, do not turn to iniquity, for this you have chosen rather than affliction.
22Behold, God is exalted in his power; who is a teacher like him?
23Who has appointed to him his way, and who has said, ‘You have done wrong’?
24Remember to magnify his work, of which people have sung.
25All humanity has looked upon it; mortals gaze from afar.
26Behold, God is great, and we do not comprehend; the number of his years is beyond searching.
27For he draws off the drops of water; they distill into rain from his mist,
28which the skies pour down; they drip upon humanity abundantly.
29Can anyone understand the spreadings of the clouds, the crashings of his pavilion?
30Behold, he spreads his light over it, and covers the roots of the sea.
31For by these he judges the peoples; he gives food in abundance.
32Upon his palms he covers the lightning, and commands it against the assailant.
33Its thunder tells of him, the cattle also, concerning what rises up.
