1At this also my heart trembles and leaps from its place.
2Listen closely to the raging of his voice, and the rumbling that goes out from his mouth.
3Under all the heavens he lets it loose, and his lightning to the edges of the earth.
4After it a voice roars; he thunders with the voice of his majesty, and he does not hold them back when his voice is heard.
5God thunders wondrously with his voice; he does great things that we cannot know.
6For to the snow he says, ‘Fall to the earth,’ and to the downpour of rain, and to the downpour of his mighty rains.
7He seals up the hand of every man, that all the men of his making may know.
8Then the beast goes into its covert, and in its dens it dwells.
9From the chamber comes the storm-wind, and from the scattering winds the cold.
10By the breath of God ice is given, and the breadth of the waters is frozen solid.
11Also with moisture he burdens the thick cloud; he scatters his cloud of lightning.
12And it turns round about by his guidance, to accomplish all that he commands them over the face of the world of the earth.
13Whether for a rod, or for his land, or for loyal love, he makes it happen.
14Give ear to this, Job; stand and consider the wonders of God.
15Do you know when God laid his charge upon them, and made the light of his cloud shine forth?
16Do you know about the balancings of the clouds, the wonders of him who is perfect in knowledge?
17You whose garments are hot when the earth lies still under the south wind—
18Can you, with him, spread out the skies, hard as a molten mirror?
19Teach us what we shall say to him; we cannot set our case in order because of darkness.
20Should it be told to him that I would speak? If a man speaks, surely he would be swallowed up.
21And now men cannot look at the light when it is bright in the skies, when a wind has passed and cleared them.
22Out of the north comes golden splendor; around God is awesome majesty.
23The Almighty—we cannot find him out; he is great in power, yet in justice and abundant righteousness he does not oppress.
24Therefore men fear him; he does not regard any who are wise in heart.
