Jeremiah 30

The AIT Bible

The Promise of Restoration

1The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying:

2Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel: Write for yourself all the words that I have spoken to you in a book.

3For behold, days are coming, declares Yahweh, when I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel and Judah, says Yahweh, and I will bring them back to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.

4And these are the words that Yahweh spoke concerning Israel and concerning Judah.

Jacob's Distress and Salvation

5For thus says Yahweh: A sound of trembling we have heard—terror, and no peace.

6Ask now and see: does a male give birth? Why then do I see every strong man with his hands on his loins like a woman in labor, and all faces turned pale?

7Alas! For that day is great, with none like it; it is a time of distress for Jacob, yet out of it he shall be saved.

8And it shall be on that day, declares Yahweh of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off your neck, and I will tear off your bonds, and strangers shall no longer make him serve.

9And they shall serve Yahweh their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.

10But as for you, do not fear, my servant Jacob, declares Yahweh, and do not be dismayed, Israel; for behold, I am about to save you from afar, and your offspring from the land of their captivity, and Jacob shall return and be quiet and at ease, with none to make him afraid.

11For I am with you, declares Yahweh, to save you; for I will make a full end of all the nations among which I have scattered you, but of you I will not make a full end. I will discipline you with justice, and I will by no means leave you unpunished.

Yahweh Will Heal Israel's Wound

12For thus says Yahweh: Your fracture is incurable, your wound grievous.

13There is no one to plead your cause for your sore; you have no healing medicines.

14All your lovers have forgotten you; they do not seek you. For I have struck you with the blow of an enemy, the discipline of a cruel one, because of the greatness of your iniquity, because your sins are many.

15Why do you cry out over your fracture? Your pain is incurable. Because of the greatness of your iniquity, because your sins are many, I have done these things to you.

16Therefore all who devour you shall be devoured, and all your foes, every one of them, shall go into captivity; those who plunder you shall become plunder, and all who prey on you I will make a prey.

17For I will bring up healing for you, and from your wounds I will heal you, declares Yahweh, because they have called you an outcast: ‘This is Zion, whom no one seeks.’

The City Will Be Rebuilt

18Thus says Yahweh: Behold, I am about to restore the fortunes of the tents of Jacob, and I will have compassion on his dwellings; and the city shall be rebuilt upon its mound, and the palace shall stand on its rightful place.

19And out of them shall come thanksgiving and the sound of those who make merry; and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will make them honored, and they shall not be small.

20And his children shall be as of old, and his congregation shall be established before me, and I will punish all who oppress him.

21And his prince shall be from among them, and his ruler shall come forth from his midst; and I will bring him near, and he shall approach me—for who is this who has pledged his heart to draw near to me?—declares Yahweh.

22And you shall be my people, and I will be your God.

The Storm of Yahweh's Wrath

23Behold, the storm of Yahweh! Wrath has gone forth, a whirling storm; upon the head of the wicked it will swirl.

24The burning anger of Yahweh will not turn back until he has done and until he has carried out the purposes of his heart. In the latter days you will understand it.
