Ezekiel 39

The AIT Bible

The Defeat of Gog's Armies

And you, son of man, prophesy against Gog and say: Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal.

And I will turn you about and lead you along, and I will bring you up from the remotest parts of the north, and I will bring you upon the mountains of Israel.

And I will strike your bow from your left hand and make your arrows fall from your right hand.

Upon the mountains of Israel you shall fall, you and all your troops and the peoples who are with you; to the birds of prey of every wing and to the beasts of the field I have given you as food.

Upon the open field you shall fall, for I myself have spoken, declares the Lord Yahweh.

And I will send fire on Magog and on those who dwell securely in the coastlands, and they shall know that I am Yahweh.

And I will make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel, and I will no longer let my holy name be profaned; and the nations shall know that I am Yahweh, the Holy One in Israel.

Behold, it is coming and it shall be done, declares the Lord Yahweh. This is the day of which I have spoken.

Then the inhabitants of the cities of Israel will go out and make fires and burn the weapons—shield and buckler, bow and arrows, hand club and spear—and they will make fires with them for seven years.

They will not gather wood from the field or cut it from the forests, for they will make their fires with the weapons; and they will plunder those who plundered them and despoil those who despoiled them, declares the Lord Yahweh.

And on that day I will give Gog a place there for a grave in Israel, the Valley of the Travelers east of the Sea; and it will block the travelers. There they will bury Gog and all his horde, and they will call it the Valley of Hamon-gog.

And the house of Israel will be burying them for seven months in order to cleanse the land.

All the people of the land will bury them, and it will bring them renown on the day that I glorify myself, declares the Lord Yahweh.

And men of continual service will be set apart, passing through the land, burying those passing through, those remaining on the surface of the land, to cleanse it; at the end of the seven months they will make their search.

And as the travelers pass through the land, when one of them sees a human bone, he will set up a marker beside it, until the buriers have buried it in the Valley of Hamon-gog.

And a city named Hamonah will also be there. So they will cleanse the land.

A Sacrificial Feast for the Birds

And you, son of man, thus says the Lord Yahweh: Say to the birds of every wing and to every beast of the field: Assemble and come, gather from all around to my sacrifice that I am sacrificing for you, a great sacrifice on the mountains of Israel; and you shall eat flesh and drink blood.

The flesh of warriors you shall eat, and the blood of the princes of the earth you shall drink—rams, lambs, and he-goats, bulls, all of them fatlings of Bashan.

And you shall eat fat until you are full and drink blood until you are drunk, from my sacrifice that I have sacrificed for you.

And at my table you shall be filled with horse and rider, with warrior and every man of war, declares the Lord Yahweh.

Israel's Restoration and God's Glory

And I will set my glory among the nations, and all the nations shall see my judgment that I have executed and my hand that I have laid upon them.

And the house of Israel shall know that I am Yahweh their God, from that day forward.

And the nations shall know that the house of Israel went into exile for their iniquity, because they were unfaithful to me, so that I hid my face from them and gave them into the hand of their foes, and they all fell by the sword.

According to their uncleanness and their transgressions I dealt with them, and I hid my face from them.

Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Now I will restore the fortunes of Jacob and have compassion on all the house of Israel, and I will be zealous for my holy name.

And they shall bear their disgrace and all their unfaithfulness by which they were unfaithful to me, when they dwell securely on their land with none to make them afraid.

When I bring them back from the peoples and gather them from the lands of their enemies, and through them I show myself holy in the sight of many nations,

then they shall know that I am Yahweh their God, when I send them into exile among the nations and then gather them to their own land and leave none of them there any longer.

And I will no longer hide my face from them, for I will have poured out my Spirit upon the house of Israel, declares the Lord Yahweh.
