I saw the Lord standing beside the altar, and he said: “Strike the capitals so that the thresholds shake, and shatter them on the heads of them all; and their remnant I will slay with the sword. Not one of them who flees shall get away, and not one of them who escapes shall be delivered.
If they dig down into Sheol, from there my hand will take them; and if they climb up to the heavens, from there I will bring them down.
And if they hide themselves on the top of Carmel, from there I will search out and take them; and if they conceal themselves from before my eyes on the floor of the sea, from there I will command the serpent, and it will bite them.
And if they go into captivity before their enemies, from there I will command the sword, and it will slay them; and I will set my eyes upon them for evil and not for good.
The Lord Yahweh of hosts—who touches the earth and it melts, and all who dwell in it mourn, and all of it rises like the Nile and sinks like the Nile of Egypt—
the one who builds his upper chambers in the heavens and founds his vault upon the earth, who calls to the waters of the sea and pours them out over the face of the earth—Yahweh is his name.
Are you not like the children of the Cushites to me, O children of Israel? declares Yahweh. Did I not bring up Israel from the land of Egypt, and the Philistines from Caphtor, and Aram from Kir?
Behold, the eyes of the Lord Yahweh are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the ground—except that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, declares Yahweh.
For behold, I am about to give the command, and I will shake the house of Israel among all the nations, as one shakes with a sieve, yet not a pebble shall fall to the ground.
By the sword shall all the sinners of my people die—those who say, ‘The evil shall not draw near or overtake us.’
On that day I will raise up the fallen booth of David, and I will wall up their breaches, and I will raise up its ruins, and I will rebuild it as in the days of old,
so that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations over whom my name has been called—declares Yahweh, who does this.
Behold, days are coming, declares Yahweh, when the plowman shall overtake the reaper and the treader of grapes the one sowing the seed; the mountains shall drip with sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt.
I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel, and they shall rebuild the desolate cities and dwell in them; they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine, and make gardens and eat their fruit.
I will plant them upon their own land, and they shall never again be uprooted from their land that I have given them, says Yahweh your God.
