1Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.
2And a certain man who was lame from his mother’s womb was being carried, whom they would place every day at the gate of the temple called Beautiful, to ask for alms from those entering the temple.
3When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked for alms.
4But Peter, looking intently at him along with John, said, “Look at us.”
5And he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.
6But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have, this I give to you: in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, walk!”
7And taking him by the right hand, he raised him up. And immediately his feet and ankles were strengthened.
8And leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and he entered the temple with them—walking and leaping and praising God.
9And all the people saw him walking and praising God.
10And they recognized him as the one who used to sit for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
11While he was clinging to Peter and John, all the people, utterly astonished, ran together to them in the portico called Solomon’s.
12And when Peter saw this, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why are you amazed at this? Or why do you stare at us, as if by our own power or piety we had made him walk?
13The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Servant Jesus, whom you handed over and disowned in the presence of Pilate, though he had decided to release him.
14But you disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,
15and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. Of this we are witnesses.
16And by faith in his name, his name has made this man strong, whom you see and know. The faith that comes through him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all.
17And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your rulers.
18But what God announced beforehand through the mouth of all the prophets—that his Christ would suffer—he has fulfilled in this way.
19Repent, therefore, and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out,
20that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus,
21whom heaven must receive until the times of the restoration of all things, which God spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from of old.
22For Moses said, ‘The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You shall listen to him in everything that he tells you.’
23And it shall be that every soul who does not listen to that prophet will be utterly destroyed from the people.’
24Indeed, all the prophets from Samuel and those who followed, as many as have spoken, also proclaimed these days.
25You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your offspring all the families of the earth will be blessed.’
26To you first, God, having raised up his Servant, sent him to bless you by turning each one of you from your wicked ways.”
