1So all the work that Solomon did for the house of Yahweh was completed. And Solomon brought in the holy things of David his father — the silver, the gold, and all the vessels — and he placed them in the treasuries of the house of God.
2Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the fathers’ houses belonging to the sons of Israel, in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh from the city of David, that is, Zion.
3So all the men of Israel assembled to the king at the festival, that is, in the seventh month.
4And all the elders of Israel came, and the Levites took up the ark.
5And they brought up the ark and the tent of meeting and all the holy vessels that were in the tent; the priests, the Levites, brought them up.
6And King Solomon and all the congregation of Israel who had assembled to him before the ark were sacrificing sheep and cattle that could not be counted or numbered for their multitude.
7And the priests brought the ark of the covenant of Yahweh to its place, to the inner sanctuary of the house, to the Most Holy Place, to underneath the wings of the cherubim.
8And the cherubim were spreading out their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and its poles from above.
9And the poles were long, so that the ends of the poles were seen from the ark in front of the inner sanctuary, but they were not seen outside; and it has been there to this day.
10There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets that Moses gave at Horeb, where Yahweh cut a covenant with the sons of Israel when they came out of Egypt.
11And it happened, when the priests came out from the holy place — for all the priests who were present had consecrated themselves, without keeping to their divisions —
12and the Levites who were the singers — all of them, belonging to Asaph, to Heman, to Jeduthun, and their sons and their kinsmen — clothed in fine linen, with cymbals and with harps and lyres, standing east of the altar, and with them a hundred and twenty priests sounding the trumpets —
13and it happened, when the trumpeters and the singers were as one, to make one sound heard in praising and giving thanks to Yahweh — and when they raised the sound with trumpets and cymbals and instruments of song, and in praising Yahweh, “For he is good, for his loyal love endures forever” — that the house, the house of Yahweh, was filled with a cloud,
14and the priests were not able to stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of Yahweh filled the house of God.
