Fifth Vision: Lampstand and Olive Trees

Then the angel who spoke with me returned and roused me, like a man who is awakened from his sleep.

And he said to me, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see, and behold, a lampstand all of gold, with its bowl on top of it, and its seven lamps upon it, with seven pipes each for the lamps that are on top of it.

And two olive trees beside it, one on the right of the bowl and one on its left.”

Then I answered and said to the angel who spoke with me, “What are these, my lord?”

And the angel who spoke with me answered and said to me, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.”

Then he answered and said to me, “This is the word of Yahweh to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might and not by power, but by my Spirit,’ says Yahweh of hosts.

Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain. And he will bring out the top stone amid shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’”

And the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

“The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house, and his hands shall finish it. Then you will know that Yahweh of hosts has sent me to you.

For who has despised the day of small things? They shall rejoice and see the plumb stone in the hand of Zerubbabel. These seven are the eyes of Yahweh; they range through all the earth.”

Then I answered and said to him, “What are these two olive trees, on the right of the lampstand and on its left?”

And I answered a second time and said to him, “What are the two branches of the olive trees that are by the hand of the two golden pipes, which pour out the golden oil from themselves?”

And he said to me, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.”

Then he said, “These are the two sons of fresh oil who stand by the Lord of all the earth.”
