Jerusalem's Deliverance Foretold

An oracle. The word of Yahweh concerning Israel. Declaration of Yahweh, who stretches out the heavens and lays the foundation of the earth and forms the spirit of man within him:

Behold, I am about to make Jerusalem a cup of reeling for all the peoples round about; and also against Judah it will be in the siege against Jerusalem.

And it will happen on that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will surely gash themselves, and all the nations of the earth will gather against her.

On that day, declaration of Yahweh, I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness; and over the house of Judah I will open my eyes, while every horse of the peoples I will strike with blindness.

Then the clans of Judah will say in their heart, ‘Strength for me are the inhabitants of Jerusalem through Yahweh of hosts, their God.’

On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot among wood and like a flaming torch among sheaves, and they will consume on the right and on the left all the peoples round about; and Jerusalem will again dwell in her place, in Jerusalem.

And Yahweh will save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitant of Jerusalem will not be magnified over Judah.

On that day Yahweh will shield the inhabitant of Jerusalem, and the one who stumbles among them on that day will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of Yahweh before them.

And it will happen on that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

Mourning for the One They Pierced

And I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitant of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplications, and they will look to me, the one whom they pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly over him as one grieves bitterly over a firstborn.

On that day the mourning in Jerusalem will be great, like the mourning of Hadad-rimmon in the valley of Megiddon.

And the land will mourn, each clan by itself: the clan of the house of David by itself, and their wives by themselves; the clan of the house of Nathan by itself, and their wives by themselves;

the clan of the house of Levi by itself, and their wives by themselves; the clan of the Shimeites by itself, and their wives by themselves;

all the remaining clans, each clan by itself, and their wives by themselves.
