Psalms 80

The AIT Bible

For the director; according to “Lilies.” A testimony. Of Asaph. A psalm.

Shepherd of Israel, Restore Us

Shepherd of Israel, give ear, you who lead Joseph like a flock; you who sit enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth!

Before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh, rouse your might, and come to save us.

God, restore us; make your face shine, that we may be saved.

Yahweh, God of hosts, how long will you smolder with anger against the prayer of your people?

You have fed them the bread of tears and given them tears to drink in full measure.

You make us an object of strife to our neighbors, and our enemies mock us among themselves.

God of hosts, restore us; make your face shine, that we may be saved.

The Vine of Israel Laid Waste

A vine you brought out from Egypt; you drove out nations and planted it.

You cleared the ground before it; it took deep root and filled the land.

The mountains were covered with its shade, and its branches were the mighty cedars.

It sends out its boughs to the Sea, and its shoots to the River.

Why have you broken down its walls, so that all who pass along the way pluck its fruit?

The boar from the forest ravages it, and whatever moves in the field feeds on it.

God of hosts, return, we pray; look down from heaven and see, and attend to this vine—

the stock that your right hand has planted, and upon the son you made strong for yourself.

It is burned with fire, cut down; at the rebuke of your face they perish.

Let your hand be upon the man of your right hand, upon the son of man you made strong for yourself.

Then we will not turn back from you; give us life, and we will call upon your name.

Yahweh, God of hosts, restore us; make your face shine, that we may be saved.
