Psalms 132

The AIT Bible

God’s Covenant with David and Zion

A song of ascents. Remember, Yahweh, on David’s behalf, all his affliction,

how he swore to Yahweh, vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:

“I will not enter the tent of my house, nor go up upon the couch of my bed,

I will not give sleep to my eyes, slumber to my eyelids,

until I find a place for Yahweh, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar.

Let us come to his dwelling; let us bow down at his footstool.

Arise, Yahweh, to your resting place, you and the ark of your strength.

Let your priests be clothed with righteousness, and let your faithful ones shout for joy.

For the sake of David your servant, do not turn away the face of your anointed.

Yahweh swore to David a truth from which he will not turn back: “Of the fruit of your body I will set one on your throne.

If your sons keep my covenant and this my testimony that I teach them, their sons also, forever, shall sit on your throne.”

For Yahweh has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling place:

“This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it.

Her provision I will surely bless; her needy ones I will satisfy with bread.

And her priests I will clothe with salvation, and her faithful ones will surely shout for joy.

There I will make a horn sprout for David; I have prepared a lamp for my anointed.

His enemies I will clothe with shame, but upon him his crown will gleam.”
