Psalms 124

The AIT Bible

If Yahweh Had Not Been for Us

1A Song of Ascents. Of David. “Had it not been for Yahweh who was for us”—let Israel now say—

2had it not been for Yahweh who was for us when men rose up against us,

3then they would have swallowed us alive, when their anger burned against us;

4then the waters would have flooded over us, the torrent would have passed over our throat;

5then over our throat would have passed the raging waters.

6Blessed be Yahweh, who has not given us as prey to their teeth.

7Our life has escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped.

8Our help is in the name of Yahweh, the Maker of heaven and earth.
