1And Yahweh spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of Sinai, in the second year after their going out from the land of Egypt, in the first month, saying:
2Let the sons of Israel keep the Passover at its appointed time.
3On the fourteenth day of this month, at twilight, you shall keep it at its appointed time; according to all its statutes and according to all its ordinances you shall keep it.
4So Moses spoke to the sons of Israel, that they should keep the Passover.
5And they kept the Passover in the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, at twilight, in the Wilderness of Sinai; according to all that Yahweh had commanded Moses, so the sons of Israel did.
6But there were men who had become unclean by a human corpse, and they could not keep the Passover on that day; so they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day.
7And those men said to him, “We are unclean by a human corpse. Why should we be kept back from presenting Yahweh’s offering at its appointed time among the sons of Israel?”
8And Moses said to them, “Stand, and let me hear what Yahweh will command concerning you.”
9And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:
10Speak to the sons of Israel, saying: If any man among you is unclean by a corpse, or is on a distant journey—whether you or your generations—yet he shall keep a Passover to Yahweh.
11In the second month, on the fourteenth day, at twilight, they shall keep it; with unleavened bread and bitter herbs they shall eat it.
12They shall leave none of it until morning, and they shall not break a bone of it; according to all the statute of the Passover they shall keep it.
13But the man who is clean and is not on a journey, yet refrains from keeping the Passover, that person shall be cut off from his people, because he did not present Yahweh’s offering at its appointed time; that man shall bear his sin.
14And if a sojourner sojourns among you and would keep a Passover to Yahweh, according to the statute of the Passover and according to its ordinance, so he shall do; you shall have one statute, both for the sojourner and for the native of the land.
15And on the day the Tabernacle was set up, the cloud covered the Tabernacle, the Tent of the Testimony; and in the evening it was upon the Tabernacle like the appearance of fire until morning.
16So it was continually: the cloud would cover it, and the appearance of fire by night.
17And whenever the cloud was lifted up from over the Tent, then afterward the sons of Israel would set out; and in the place where the cloud settled, there the sons of Israel would camp.
18At the command of Yahweh the sons of Israel would set out, and at the command of Yahweh they would camp; all the days that the cloud settled upon the Tabernacle they would remain camped.
19And when the cloud lingered over the Tabernacle many days, the sons of Israel would keep the charge of Yahweh and would not set out.
20And there were times when the cloud was over the Tabernacle a number of days: at the command of Yahweh they would camp, and at the command of Yahweh they would set out.
21And there were times when the cloud remained from evening until morning, and the cloud lifted in the morning, and they set out; or a day and a night, and the cloud lifted, and they set out.
22Or two days, or a month, or a longer time—when the cloud lingered over the Tabernacle, settling upon it, the sons of Israel would camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out.
23At the command of Yahweh they would camp, and at the command of Yahweh they would set out; they kept the charge of Yahweh, at the command of Yahweh by the hand of Moses.
