Draw near, O nations, to hear; and O peoples, pay attention! Let the earth hear, and all that fills it, the world and all that it brings forth.
For Yahweh has wrath against all the nations, and fury against all their host. He has devoted them to destruction, he has given them over to slaughter.
Their slain will be cast out, and the stench of their corpses will rise up; and the mountains will flow with their blood.
All the host of the heavens will rot away, and the heavens will be rolled up like a scroll; and all their host will wither, as a leaf withers from the vine and as withered fruit from the fig tree.
For my sword has drunk its fill in the heavens; behold, it will come down upon Edom, upon the people I have devoted to destruction, for judgment.
Yahweh has a sword filled with blood, gorged with fat, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams; for Yahweh has a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
And wild oxen will go down with them, and young bulls with the mighty ones; and their land will drink its fill of blood, and their dust will be gorged with fat.
For Yahweh has a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion.
And her streams will be turned into pitch, and her dust into brimstone, and her land will become burning pitch.
Night and day it will not be quenched; its smoke will go up forever. From generation to generation it will lie waste; forever and ever none will pass through it.
But the pelican and the hedgehog will possess it, the owl and the raven will dwell in it. And he will stretch over it the measuring line of formlessness and the plumb stones of emptiness.
Its nobles—there is no one there to proclaim a kingdom—and all its princes will come to nothing.
Thorns will grow up over its palaces, nettles and thistles in its fortresses; and it will become the abode of jackals, a courtyard for ostriches.
And desert creatures will meet with hyenas, and the wild goat will call to its companion; there indeed Lilith will settle and find for herself a resting place.
There the arrow snake will make its nest and lay eggs, and will hatch and gather her brood under her shadow; there indeed the kites will be gathered, each with its companion.
Seek from the scroll of Yahweh and read: not one of these will be missing, none will lack its companion; for the mouth—it is he who has commanded, and his Spirit—it has gathered them.
And he himself has cast the lot for them, and his hand has apportioned it to them by the line; forever they will possess it, from generation to generation they will dwell in it.
