1And it happened after this that David struck the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Gath and its dependent towns from the hand of the Philistines.
2And he struck Moab, and the Moabites became servants to David, bearers of tribute.
3And David struck Hadadezer king of Zobah toward Hamath, as he went to establish his control at the River Euphrates.
4And David captured from him a thousand chariots, seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand foot soldiers; and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but he left of them a hundred chariots.
5And Aram of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, and David struck down among the Arameans twenty-two thousand men.
6And David placed garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans became servants to David, bearers of tribute. And Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.
7And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.
8And from Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took very much bronze; with it Solomon made the bronze Sea, the pillars, and the vessels of bronze.
9And Tou king of Hamath heard that David had struck down all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah.
10And he sent Hadoram his son to King David, to ask after his welfare and to bless him because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him down—for Hadadezer had been at war with Tou—and he brought all kinds of vessels of gold and silver and bronze.
11These too King David dedicated to Yahweh, along with the silver and the gold that he had carried off from all the nations—from Edom, from Moab, from the sons of Ammon, from the Philistines, and from Amalek.
12And Abishai son of Zeruiah struck down eighteen thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt.
13And he placed garrisons in Edom, and all Edom became servants to David. And Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.
14And David reigned over all Israel, and he administered justice and righteousness for all his people.
15And Joab son of Zeruiah was over the army, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was recorder.
16And Zadok son of Ahitub and Abimelech son of Abiathar were priests, and Shavsha was scribe.
17And Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and the sons of David were the chief officials at the king’s side.
