And when he entered Ecbatana, Azarias said to him, “Brother, take me straight to Raguel our kinsman.” So he led him to Raguel’s house, and they found him sitting by the courtyard door. They greeted him first, and he said to them, “Greetings, brothers, and welcome in good health!” And he brought them into his house.
And he said to his wife Edna, “How much this young man resembles Tobit, my kinsman!”
Then Edna asked them, “Where are you from, brothers?” And they said to her, “We are from the sons of Naphtali, who were taken captive to Nineveh.”
She said to them, “Do you know Tobit our kinsman?” And they said to her, “We know him.” And she said to them, “Is he well?”
And they said to her, “He is alive and well.” And Tobias said, “He is my father.”
Then Raguel leaped up, kissed him, and wept.
And he spoke and said to him, “A blessing be upon you, child, son of a noble and good father! Oh, what a wretched misfortune that such a righteous man, one who gives alms, has been blinded!” And falling on the neck of Tobias his kinsman, he wept.
And Edna his wife wept over him, and Sarah their daughter also wept.
Then he slaughtered a ram from the flock and welcomed them warmly. And when they had bathed and washed and had reclined to dine, Tobias said to Raphael, “Brother Azarias, ask Raguel to give me Sarah my kinswoman.”
Raguel heard this request and said to the young man, “Eat and drink, and be merry tonight. For there is no man who has the right to take my daughter Sarah except you, kinsman. Likewise, I have no authority to give her to any other man but you, because you are my nearest relative. But I will tell you the whole truth, child.”
“I have given her to seven men from among our kinsmen, and they all died on the night they went in to her. But for now, child, eat and drink, and the Lord will act on your behalf.” But Tobias said, “I will not eat or drink anything here until you settle this matter for me.” Raguel said to him, “I will do it. She is given to you according to the decree of the book of Moses, and it has been decreed from heaven that she be given to you. Take your kinswoman. From now on you are her brother and she is your sister. She has been given to you from this day and forever. May the Lord of heaven grant you success this night, child, and bestow mercy and peace upon you.”
Then Raguel called his daughter Sarah, and she came to him. He took her by the hand and gave her over to Tobias, saying, “Take her according to the law and the decree written in the book of Moses, to be given to you as your wife. Have her, and take her to your father in good health. And may the God of heaven grant you a peaceful journey.”
And he called her mother and told her to bring a scroll, and he wrote out a marriage contract, stating that he was giving her to him as a wife according to the decree of the law of Moses.
After that, they began to eat and drink.
Then Raguel called his wife Edna and said to her, “Sister, prepare the other chamber and bring her there.”
So she went and prepared the chamber as he had told her, and brought her there. She wept over her, wiped away the tears, and said to her,
“Take heart, daughter. May the Lord of heaven grant you joy in place of your sorrow. Take heart, daughter.” And then she left.
