1But about these things do not be ashamed, and do not sin by showing partiality:
2of the Law of the Most High and the statute, and of a judgment that acquits the wicked;
3of keeping accounts with a partner, master, or traveler, and of dividing an inheritance and property;
4of the precision of scales and balances, and of testing the ephah and the stone-weight;
5of a transaction, whether for much or for little, and of the price of a merchant’s goods;
6on a bad wife, a seal is a muzzle; and where hands are slack, you will open.
7whatever you entrust, count it out; and all giving and receiving should be in writing.
8of correcting the simple and the foolish, and the old and aged who takes counsel in fornication. Then you will be truly prudent, a man approved before all living.
9A daughter is a secret anxiety to her father; worry over her disturbs his sleep. In her youth, he worries she may be defiled; in her virginity, that she may not be married.
10When she is a virgin, he worries she may be seduced, and in her husband’s house, that she may go astray. In her father’s house, he worries she may become pregnant, and with her husband, that she may be barren.
11My son, keep a strict watch over your daughter, lest she give you a bad name, making you the talk of the city and cursed by the people, and shaming you in the public assembly.
12Where she dwells, let there be no window, nor a house that looks upon the entrance all around. Do not let her show her beauty to any male, nor let her associate among women.
13For from a garment comes the moth, and from a woman, a woman’s wickedness.
14Better a man’s evil than a woman’s good; a woman brings shame and reproach.
15I will now call to mind the works of God, and what I have seen, I will declare. By the word of God his works come to be, and his creation does his will.
16The shining sun looks out upon all things, and the glory of Yahweh fills all his work.
17The holy ones of Yahweh are not able to recount all his wonders. Yahweh has given strength to his hosts to stand firm before his glory.
18He has searched the abyss and the human heart, and he understands all their secrets.
19He declares what has been and what is to be, and reveals the clues to hidden things.
20No thought escapes him; not a single word is hidden from him.
21He has ordered the mighty works of his wisdom; he is the One from eternity. Nothing can be added to him or taken away, and he has no need of any counselor.
22How desirable are all his works, and how sparkling to behold!
23All these things live and remain forever for every need, and all are obedient.
24All things are in pairs, one opposite the other, and he has made nothing deficient.
25One thing establishes the goodness of another; and who can ever have their fill of seeing his glory?
