And Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying:
This is the statute of the law that Yahweh has commanded, saying: Speak to the sons of Israel, and let them bring to you a red heifer, without blemish, in which there is no defect, upon which no yoke has ever come.
And you shall give it to Eleazar the priest, and he shall bring it outside the camp, and it shall be slaughtered before him.
And Eleazar the priest shall take some of its blood with his finger, and he shall sprinkle some of its blood toward the front of the tent of meeting seven times.
And he shall burn the heifer before his eyes; its hide and its flesh and its blood, along with its dung, he shall burn.
And the priest shall take cedar wood and hyssop and scarlet yarn, and he shall throw them into the midst of the burning of the heifer.
Then the priest shall wash his garments and bathe his body in water, and afterward he may come into the camp; but the priest shall be unclean until the evening.
And the one who burns it shall wash his garments in water and bathe his body in water, and he shall be unclean until the evening.
And a clean man shall gather up the ashes of the heifer and deposit them outside the camp in a clean place, and it shall be kept for the congregation of the sons of Israel for the water of purification; it is a purification offering.
And the one who gathers up the ashes of the heifer shall wash his garments, and he shall be unclean until the evening. And it shall be a perpetual statute for the sons of Israel and for the sojourner who sojourns among them.
The one who touches the corpse of any human being shall be unclean seven days.
He shall purify himself with it on the third day and on the seventh day, and he shall be clean; but if he does not purify himself on the third day and on the seventh day, he shall not be clean.
Anyone who touches a corpse, the body of a human being who has died, and does not purify himself, has defiled the dwelling of Yahweh, and that person shall be cut off from Israel; because the water of purification was not sprinkled upon him, he remains unclean; his uncleanness is still upon him.
This is the law: when a person dies in a tent, everyone who comes into the tent and everything that is in the tent shall be unclean seven days.
And every open vessel that has no lid fastened upon it is unclean.
And everyone who touches, in the open field, one slain by the sword, or a corpse, or a human bone, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.
And for the unclean one they shall take some of the dust of the burnt purification offering, and running water shall be put over it in a vessel.
And a clean man shall take hyssop and dip it in the water, and he shall sprinkle it on the tent and on all the vessels and on the persons who were there, and on the one who touched the bone, or the slain, or the corpse, or the grave.
And the clean one shall sprinkle it on the unclean one on the third day and on the seventh day, and on the seventh day he shall purify him; and he shall wash his garments and bathe in water, and he shall be clean in the evening.
But the man who is unclean and does not purify himself, that person shall be cut off from the midst of the assembly, because he has defiled the sanctuary of Yahweh; the water of purification was not sprinkled upon him; he is unclean.
And it shall be a perpetual statute for them. And the one who sprinkles the water of purification shall wash his garments, and the one who touches the water of purification shall be unclean until the evening.
And everything that the unclean person touches shall be unclean, and the person who touches it shall be unclean until the evening.
