1Now the lot for the tribe of the sons of Judah, by their clans, extended to the border of Edom, to the Wilderness of Zin toward the south, at the extreme southern edge.
2Their southern border ran from the end of the Salt Sea, from the bay that faces southward,
3and it went out to the south of the Ascent of Akrabbim, passed over toward Zin, went up on the south to Kadesh-barnea, passed over toward Hezron, went up to Addar, and turned around toward Karka.
4It passed over toward Azmon and went out to the Wadi of Egypt, and the limits of the border were at the sea. This shall be your southern border.
5The eastern border was the Salt Sea as far as the end of the Jordan. The border on the north side ran from the bay of the sea at the end of the Jordan.
6The border went up to Beth-hoglah and passed north of Beth-arabah; and the border went up to the Stone of Bohan son of Reuben.
7Then the border went up to Debir from the Valley of Achor, and northward it turned toward Gilgal, which is opposite the Ascent of Adummim, which is south of the wadi; the border passed over to the waters of En-shemesh, and its limits were at En-rogel.
8The border went up the Valley of Ben-hinnom, to the southern slope of the Jebusite (that is, Jerusalem); and the border went up to the top of the mountain that is opposite the Valley of Hinnom on the west, at the northern end of the Valley of Rephaim.
9The border curved from the top of the mountain to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of Mount Ephron; then the border curved toward Baalah (that is, Kiriath-jearim).
10The border turned around from Baalah westward to Mount Seir, passed over to the northern slope of Mount Jearim (that is, Chesalon), went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed over to Timnah.
11The border went out to the northern slope of Ekron; then the border curved to Shikkeron, passed over to Mount Baalah, and went out to Jabneel; and the limits of the border were at the sea.
12The western border was the Great Sea and its coast. This is the border of the sons of Judah all around, by their clans.
13To Caleb son of Jephunneh he gave a portion among the sons of Judah, according to the command of Yahweh to Joshua: Kiriath-arba (Arba was the father of the Anak), that is, Hebron.
14Caleb drove out from there the three sons of Anak: Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, the descendants of Anak.
15From there he went up against the inhabitants of Debir; now the name of Debir formerly was Kiriath-sepher.
16And Caleb said, “Whoever strikes down Kiriath-sepher and captures it, to him I will give Achsah my daughter as a wife.”
17Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb’s brother, captured it; so he gave him Achsah his daughter as a wife.
18When she came, she urged him to ask her father for a field. She dismounted from the donkey, and Caleb said to her, “What do you want?”
19She said, “Give me a blessing; since you have given me the land of the Negeb, give me also springs of water.” So he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.
20This is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Judah, by their clans.
21The cities at the far edge of the tribe of the sons of Judah, toward the border of Edom in the Negeb, were: Kabzeel, Eder, Jagur,
22Kinah, Dimonah, Adadah,
23Kedesh, Hazor, Ithnan,
24Ziph, Telem, Bealoth,
25Hazor-hadattah, and Kerioth-hezron (that is, Hazor),
26Amam, Shema, Moladah,
27Hazar-gaddah, Heshmon, Beth-pelet,
28Hazar-shual, Beersheba, Biziothiah,
29Baalah, Iim, Ezem,
30Eltolad, Chesil, Hormah,
31Ziklag, Madmannah, and Sansannah;
32Lebaoth, Shilhim, Ain, and Rimmon—all the cities were twenty-nine, with their villages.
33In the Shephelah: Eshtaol, Zorah, and Ashnah;
34Zanoah, En-gannim, Tappuah, and Enam;
35Jarmuth, Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah;
36Shaaraim, Adithaim, Gederah, and Gederothaim—fourteen cities, with their villages.
37Zenan, Hadashah, and Migdal-gad;
38Dilan, Mizpeh, and Joktheel;
39Lachish, Bozkath, and Eglon;
40Cabbon, Lahmas, and Chitlish;
41Gederoth, Beth-dagon, Naamah, and Makkedah—sixteen cities, with their villages.
42Libnah, Ether, and Ashan;
43Iphtah, Ashnah, and Nezib;
44Keilah, Achzib, and Mareshah—nine cities, with their villages.
45Ekron, with its daughter-towns and its villages;
46from Ekron to the sea, all that lay near Ashdod, with their villages;
47Ashdod, with its daughter-towns and its villages; Gaza, with its daughter-towns and its villages, as far as the Wadi of Egypt, and the Great Sea and its coast.
48And in the hill country: Shamir, Jattir, and Socoh;
49Dannah, Kiriath-sannah (that is, Debir);
50Anab, Eshtemoh, and Anim;
51Goshen, Holon, and Giloh—eleven cities, with their villages.
52Arab, Rumah, and Eshan;
53Janim, Beth-tappuah, and Aphekah;
54Humtah, Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), and Zior—nine cities, with their villages.
55Maon, Carmel, Ziph, and Juttah;
56Jezreel, Jokdeam, and Zanoah;
57Kain, Gibeah, and Timnah—ten cities, with their villages.
58Halhul, Beth-zur, and Gedor;
59Maarath, Beth-anoth, and Eltekon—six cities, with their villages.
60Kiriath-baal (that is, Kiriath-jearim) and Rabbah—two cities, with their villages.
61In the wilderness: Beth-arabah, Middin, and Secacah,
62and Nibshan, and the City of Salt, and En-gedi—six cities with their villages.
63But as for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the sons of Judah were not able to dispossess them; so the Jebusites have dwelt with the sons of Judah in Jerusalem to this day.
