1So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
2Then the anger of Elihu son of Barakel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, burned. Against Job his anger burned because he justified himself rather than God.
3And against his three friends his anger burned, because they had found no answer, yet had condemned Job.
4Now Elihu had waited for Job with words, because they were older than he in days.
5But when Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of the three men, his anger burned.
6So Elihu son of Barakel the Buzite answered and said: I am young in days, and you are aged; therefore I held back, and was afraid to declare my knowledge to you.
7I said, ‘Let days speak, and many years make known wisdom.’
8But indeed it is a spirit in a person, and the breath of the Almighty, that gives them understanding.
9It is not the many who are wise, nor the aged who understand justice.
10Therefore I say, ‘Listen to me; let me too declare my knowledge.’
11Behold, I waited for your words, I listened for your insights, while you searched out what to say.
12I gave you my attention, and behold, there was none who refuted Job, none among you who answered his sayings.
13Beware lest you say, ‘We have found wisdom; God will drive him off, not a man.’
14He has not arranged his words against me, and I will not answer him with your sayings.
15They are dismayed, they answer no more; words have moved away from them.
16And should I wait, because they do not speak, because they stand and answer no more?
17I too will answer my part; I too will declare my knowledge.
18For I am full of words; the spirit within me constrains me.
19Behold, my belly is like wine that has no vent; like new wineskins, it is about to burst.
20Let me speak, that I may find relief; let me open my lips and answer.
21Let me show no partiality to anyone, and let me flatter no man.
22For I do not know how to flatter; else my Maker would soon take me away.
