1At that time Merodach-baladan son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a gift to Hezekiah, for he had heard that he had been sick and had recovered.
2And Hezekiah rejoiced over them, and he showed them his treasure house—the silver and the gold, the spices and the fine oil, and his whole armory, and all that was found in his storehouses. There was nothing in his house or in all his dominion that Hezekiah did not show them.
3Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah and said to him, “What did these men say, and from where did they come to you?” And Hezekiah said, “They came to me from a distant land, from Babylon.”
4And he said, “What did they see in your house?” And Hezekiah said, “They saw everything that is in my house; there is nothing among my treasures that I did not show them.”
5Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word of Yahweh of hosts:
6Behold, days are coming when everything in your house, and what your fathers have stored up until this day, will be carried off to Babylon; nothing will be left, says Yahweh.
7And some of your sons who will come from you, whom you will father, they will take, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”
8And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The word of Yahweh that you have spoken is good.” And he said, “For there will be peace and truth in my days.”
