Then Yahweh said to Noah, “Go, you and all your household, into the ark, for you I have seen to be righteous before me in this generation.
Of every clean animal you shall take for yourself seven and seven, a male and its mate; and of the animals that are not clean, two, a male and its mate;
also of the birds of the sky, seven pairs, male and female, to keep offspring alive on the face of all the earth.
For in seven more days I will send rain upon the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will blot out from the face of the ground every living thing that I have made.”
And Noah did according to all that Yahweh commanded him.
Noah was six hundred years old when the flood came, waters upon the earth.
And Noah went into the ark, and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him, because of the waters of the flood.
Of the clean animals, and of the animals that are not clean, and of the birds, and of everything that creeps on the ground,
two by two they came to Noah into the ark, male and female, as God had commanded Noah.
And after the seven days, the waters of the flood came upon the earth.
In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month—on that very day all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the windows of the heavens were opened.
And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
On that very day Noah went in, and Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark—
they, and every wild animal according to its kind, and every domestic animal according to its kind, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth according to its kind, and every bird according to its kind, every winged creature of every kind.
They came to Noah into the ark, two by two of all flesh in which was the breath of life.
And those that came were male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him. Then Yahweh shut him in.
The flood was upon the earth for forty days, and the waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose above the earth.
The waters grew mighty and increased greatly upon the earth, and the ark moved upon the surface of the waters.
And the waters grew exceedingly mighty upon the earth, and all the high mountains under all the heavens were covered.
Fifteen cubits upward the waters grew mighty, and the mountains were covered.
And all flesh that moved on the earth perished—the birds, the domestic animals, the wild animals, all the swarming things that swarm on the earth, and all humankind.
Everything in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, of all that was on the dry land, died.
So he blotted out every living thing that was on the face of the ground, from humankind to animals to creeping things and birds of the sky; they were blotted out from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those who were with him in the ark.
And the waters grew mighty upon the earth a hundred and fifty days.
