1Send your bread out upon the surface of the waters, for after many days you will find it.
2Give a portion to seven, and even to eight, for you do not know what disaster may come upon the land.
3If the clouds are full of rain, they empty it out upon the earth; and if a tree falls in the south or in the north, in the place where the tree falls, there it will lie.
4One who watches the wind will not sow, and one who looks at the clouds will not reap.
5Just as you do not know the way of the wind, like the bones in the womb of a pregnant woman, so you do not know the work of God, who makes everything.
6In the morning sow your seed, and until evening do not let your hand rest, for you do not know which will prosper, this one or that, or whether both alike will be good.
7Sweet is the light, and good it is for the eyes to see the sun.
8Indeed, if a person lives many years, let them rejoice in all of them; yet let them remember the days of darkness, for they will be many. All that comes is vapor.
9Rejoice, young man, in your youth, and let your heart do you good in the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of your heart and in the sights of your eyes, but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.
10So remove vexation from your heart, and put away trouble from your flesh, for youth and the prime of life are vapor.
