Deuteronomy 34

The AIT Bible

The Death of Moses

1Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, the top of Pisgah, which faces Jericho. And Yahweh showed him all the land: Gilead as far as Dan,

2and all of Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah as far as the western sea,

3and the Negev, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palms, as far as Zoar.

4And Yahweh said to him, “This is the land that I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, ‘To your seed I will give it.’ I have let you see it with your eyes, but you shall not cross over there.”

5So Moses, the servant of Yahweh, died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of Yahweh.

6And he buried him in the valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth-peor, but no one knows his burial place to this day.

7Now Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died; his eye had not grown dim, and his vigor had not fled.

8And the sons of Israel wept for Moses on the plains of Moab thirty days, until the days of weeping in mourning for Moses were completed.

Joshua's Succession and Moses' Legacy

9Now Joshua son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him; so the sons of Israel listened to him and did as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

10And no prophet has arisen again in Israel like Moses, whom Yahweh knew face to face,

11for all the signs and wonders that Yahweh sent him to do in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his land,

12and for all the strong hand and all the great terror that Moses performed before the eyes of all Israel.
