1Now it happened at the end of twenty years, during which Solomon built the house of Yahweh and his own house,
2that Solomon rebuilt the cities that Huram had given to Solomon, and he settled the sons of Israel there.
3Then Solomon went to Hamath-zobah and prevailed against it.
4He built Tadmor in the wilderness and all the storage cities that he built in Hamath.
5He built Upper Beth-horon and Lower Beth-horon, fortified cities with walls, gates, and bars,
6and Baalath and all the storage cities that Solomon had, and all the cities for the chariots and the cities for the horsemen, and all that Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.
7All the people who were left of the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of Israel—
8their descendants who were left after them in the land, whom the sons of Israel had not destroyed—these Solomon conscripted for forced labor, as they are to this day.
9But of the sons of Israel Solomon made no one a slave for his work; rather, they were men of war, and the chiefs of his officers, and the commanders of his chariots and his horsemen.
10And these were the chief officers who belonged to King Solomon: two hundred fifty who ruled over the people.
11Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh from the City of David to the house that he had built for her, for he said, “No wife of mine shall dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places to which the ark of Yahweh has come are holy.”
12Then Solomon offered burnt offerings to Yahweh on the altar of Yahweh that he had built in front of the portico,
13as each day required, offering according to the commandment of Moses for the Sabbaths, the new moons, and the appointed feasts three times a year—at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Booths.
14According to the ordinance of David his father, he appointed the divisions of the priests over their service, and the Levites over their duties—to praise and to minister before the priests as each day required—and the gatekeepers by their divisions at each gate; for so David the man of God had commanded.
15And they did not turn aside from the commandment of the king to the priests and the Levites in any matter, or concerning the treasuries.
16So all Solomon’s work was accomplished, from the day the house of Yahweh was founded until it was completed. The house of Yahweh was finished.
17Then Solomon went to Ezion-geber and to Eloth, on the shore of the sea, in the land of Edom.
18And Huram sent him, by the hand of his servants, ships and servants who knew the sea; and they went with Solomon’s servants to Ophir, and took from there four hundred fifty talents of gold, and brought it to King Solomon.
