1She protected the first-formed father of the world, when he was created alone, and delivered him from his own transgression,
2and gave him strength to rule over all things.
3But when an unrighteous one departed from her in his anger, he perished in his brother-slaying rage.
4On his account, when the earth was being flooded, Wisdom again saved it, steering the righteous one on a common piece of wood.
5She also, when the nations were confounded in a conspiracy of wickedness, found the righteous one and kept him blameless before God, and preserved him strong against his compassion for his child.
6She rescued a righteous one from the perishing ungodly, as he fled the fire that came down on the Five Cities.
7As a witness to their wickedness, a desolate land still smokes, plants bear fruit that never ripens, and a pillar of salt stands as a monument to an unbelieving soul.
8For by passing Wisdom by, they not only were harmed by their ignorance of what is good, but they also left to the world a reminder of their folly, so that their failings could not be hidden.
9But Wisdom rescued from troubles those who served her.
10She guided a righteous one on straight paths when he was fleeing from his brother’s wrath. She showed him the kingdom of God and gave him knowledge of holy things; she prospered him in his labors and multiplied the fruits of his toils.
11When exploiters were greedy for him, she stood by him and made him rich.
12She guarded him from enemies and kept him safe from those who lay in ambush. She awarded him the prize in a hard contest, so that he might know that godliness is more powerful than anything.
13She did not abandon the righteous one when he was sold, but rescued him from sin.
14She went down with him into the pit, and in chains she did not forsake him, until she brought him the scepter of a kingdom and authority over his oppressors. She showed his accusers to be false and gave him eternal glory.
15She rescued a holy people and a blameless seed from a nation of oppressors.
16She entered the soul of a servant of the Lord and stood against fearsome kings with wonders and signs.
17She gave the holy ones the reward of their labors, guided them on a marvelous way, and became for them a shelter by day and a flame of stars by night.
18She brought them through the Red Sea and led them through abundant water,
19but their enemies she overwhelmed, and from the depths of the abyss she cast them up.
20Therefore the righteous plundered the ungodly, and they hymned, O Lord, your holy name, and with one accord praised your defending hand.
21because Wisdom opened the mouths of the mute and made the tongues of infants speak clearly.
