6Do not lie down with female musicians, lest they burn you with their sharp words.
7Do not gaze at a virgin, lest you be ensnared by the penalties for her.
8Do not give your soul to a harlot, lest you lose your inheritance.
9Avert your eye from a graceful woman, and do not gaze at beauty that is not yours.
10By a woman’s form many have been ruined, and her lovers are singed by fire.
11Do not dine with her husband, and do not recline with him in drunkenness,
12lest your heart be drawn to her, and with bloodguilt you descend to the pit.
13Do not abandon an old friend, for a new one is not like him.
14A new friend is new wine; when it has aged, you will drink it with pleasure.
15Do not envy a wicked man, for you do not know what his day will bring.
16Do not envy a successful scoundrel; remember, he will not go unpunished, even to death.
17Keep far from a man who has power to kill, and you will not live in terror of death.
18And if you do draw near, make no mistake, lest he take away your life.
19Know that you walk among snares and move about upon a net.
20According to your ability, win over your neighbor, and associate with the wise.
21Let your reasoning be with the discerning, and all your discourse among them.
22Let righteous men be your dinner companions, and let your glory be in the fear of God.
23By the hands of the skillful, integrity is esteemed, and a ruler over his people is wise.
24A rash speaker is feared in his city, and a man of loose tongue will be hated for his speech.
