I will praise you, God of my salvation; I will thank you, God of my father. I will recount your name, the stronghold of my life, for you have redeemed my soul from death.
You have kept my flesh from the pit, and from the hand of Sheol you have delivered my foot. You have rescued me from the slander of a people, from the scourge of a slandering tongue and from the lip of those who turn to lies. Against my adversaries you were with me; you helped me according to your great kindness.
From the snare of those who watch for my stumbling, and from the hand of those who seek my life. From many troubles you have saved me, and from the distress of flames all around.
From the quenching of a fire with no coal, from the womb of the deep, not of my mother.
From the lips of lewdness and those who plaster over with lies, and the arrows of a deceitful tongue.
My soul drew near to death, and my life to Sheol below.
I turned all around and there was no one to help me; I looked for someone to support me, and there was none.
Then I remembered the mercy of Yahweh, and his kindness which is from of old, who delivers those who hope in him, and redeems them from all evil.
I lifted my voice from the earth, and from the gates of Sheol I cried out.
I exalted: “Yahweh, you are my Father! For you are the mighty one of my salvation. Do not abandon me in the day of trouble, in the day of ruin and desolation.”
I will praise your name continually, and I will remember you in prayer. Then Yahweh heard my voice, and he gave ear to my supplication.
He redeemed me from all evil, and delivered me in the day of trouble. Therefore I gave thanks and praised, and I blessed the name of Yahweh: Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loyal love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of praises, for his loyal love endures forever. Give thanks to the Guardian of Israel, for his loyal love endures forever. Give thanks to the Fashioner of all, for his loyal love endures forever. Give thanks to the Redeemer of Israel, for his loyal love endures forever. Give thanks to the Gatherer of the dispersed of Israel, for his loyal love endures forever. Give thanks to the Builder of his city and his sanctuary, for his loyal love endures forever. Give thanks to the one who makes a horn sprout for the house of David, for his loyal love endures forever. Give thanks to the one who chose the sons of Zadok as priests, for his loyal love endures forever. Give thanks to the Shield of Abraham, for his loyal love endures forever. Give thanks to the Rock of Isaac, for his loyal love endures forever. Give thanks to the Mighty One of Jacob, for his loyal love endures forever. Give thanks to the one who chose Zion, for his loyal love endures forever. Give thanks to the King of the kings of kings, for his loyal love endures forever. He has raised up a horn for his people, praise for all his faithful — for the children of Israel, the people near to him. Praise Yah!
When I was a youth, I desired and sought it. My foot walked in its truth; from my youth, my Lord, I learned wisdom.
I prayed a prayer in my youth, and I found much knowledge.
From its flower, like a ripening grape, my heart delighted in it. My foot walked in straightness; from my youth I tracked it.
I inclined my ear a little and received it, and I found much instruction for myself.
Her yoke was an honor to me, and to my teachers I will give thanks.
I resolved to make my way good, and I will not turn back when I find it.
My soul longed for it, and I will not turn my face from it.
I gave my soul to pursue it, and forever and ever I will not turn from it. I found it in purity, and I acquired a heart for it from the beginning.
My insides grew warm like a furnace to look at it; therefore I will not forsake it.
Yahweh has given me the reward of my lips; because of this I have acquired a good possession.
Turn to me, you fools, and lodge in my house of study.
How long will you be lacking in these things, while your soul is very thirsty?
I opened my mouth and spoke of it: “Acquire wisdom for yourselves without money.”
Bring your necks into her yoke, and let your soul bear her burden. She is near to those who seek her, and he who gives his soul finds her.
See with your eyes that I was little, and I stood firm in it and found it.
Many have heard my teaching from my youth; acquire silver and gold through me.
Let my soul rejoice in my old age, and you will not be ashamed of my song.
Do your deeds in righteousness, and he will give you your reward in its time. Blessed be Yahweh forever, and praised be his name from generation to generation.
