1He who keeps the law multiplies offerings;
2he who pays attention to the commandments offers a sacrifice of well-being.
3He who shows gratitude offers fine flour,
4and he who gives alms sacrifices a thank offering.
5To turn from wickedness is the Lord’s good pleasure; to turn from injustice is an atonement.
6Do not appear before the Lord empty-handed,
7for all these things are done because of the commandment.
8The offering of the righteous makes the altar rich, and its pleasing aroma rises before the Most High.
9The sacrifice of a righteous man is acceptable, and its memorial will not be forgotten.
10Glorify the Lord with a generous eye, and do not hold back the firstfruits of your hands.
11With every gift, show a cheerful face, and dedicate your tithe with gladness.
12Give to the Most High as he has given to you, and as generously as your hand has found.
13For the Lord is a repayer, and he will repay you sevenfold.
14Do not offer a bribe, for he will not accept it;
15and do not rely on a dishonest sacrifice, for the Lord is a judge, and with him there is no partiality.
16He will not show partiality against the poor, but will hear the prayer of the wronged.
17He will not ignore the supplication of the orphan, nor the widow when she pours out her complaint.
18Do not a widow’s tears run down her cheek?
19And is not her cry against the one who caused them?
20He who serves with goodwill shall be accepted, and his prayer will reach to the clouds.
21The prayer of the humble pierces the clouds and will not rest until it draws near; it will not stop until the Most High takes notice,
22and judges righteously and executes judgment. The Lord will not delay, nor will he be patient with them, until he has crushed the loins of the merciless
23and repays vengeance to the nations, until he has rooted out the multitude of the arrogant and shattered the scepters of the unrighteous;
24until he has repaid each person according to their deeds, and the works of humanity according to their intentions;
25until he has judged the case of his people and made them rejoice in his mercy.
26Mercy is beautiful in a time of distress, like a cloud of rain in a time of drought.
