1Wisdom will praise herself, and in the midst of her people she will glory.
2In the assembly of the Most High she will open her mouth, and before his host she will glory:
3“I came forth from the mouth of the Most High, and like a mist I covered the earth.
4I pitched my tent in the heights, and my throne was in a pillar of cloud.
5I alone circled the vault of heaven and walked in the depth of the abyss.
6In the waves of the sea, in all the earth, and in every people and nation I have taken a possession.
7Among all these I sought a resting place; in whose inheritance might I lodge?
8Then the Creator of all commanded me, and he who created me made my tent rest; he said, ‘Pitch your tent in Jacob, and take your inheritance in Israel.’
9He created me from the beginning, before the age, and to the age I will not cease to be.
10In the holy tent I ministered before him, and so I was established in Zion.
11Likewise, in the beloved city he gave me rest, and in Jerusalem is my authority.
12I took root in a glorified people, in the Lord’s portion, his own inheritance.
13I was raised high like a cedar in Lebanon, and like a cypress on the mountains of Hermon.
14I was raised high like a palm tree on the shores, and like rose bushes in Jericho; like a beautiful olive tree in the plain, and I was raised high like a plane tree.
15Like cinnamon and aromatic calamus, I gave forth a scent; and like choice myrrh, I spread a sweet fragrance—like galbanum, onycha, and stacte, and like the smoke of frankincense in the tent.
16I, like a terebinth, stretched out my branches, and my branches are branches of glory and grace.
17I, like a vine, brought forth grace, and my blossoms are the fruit of glory and wealth.
19Come to me, you who desire me, and be filled with my fruits.
20For the remembrance of me is sweeter than honey, and my inheritance than the honeycomb.
21Those who eat me will hunger for more, and those who drink me will thirst for more.
22Whoever obeys me will not be put to shame, and those who work by me will not sin.”
23All these things are the book of the covenant of the Most High God, the Law which Moses commanded as an inheritance for the assemblies of Jacob.
25It fills people with wisdom like the Pishon, and like the Tigris in the days of new fruits.
26It makes understanding overflow like the Euphrates, and like the Jordan in the days of harvest.
27It makes instruction shine forth like the light, like the Gihon in the days of the vintage.
28The first man did not finish knowing her, nor has the last one traced her out.
29For her thought is vaster than the sea, and her counsel deeper than the great abyss.
30And I, like a canal from a river, and like an aqueduct, went out into a garden.
31I said, “I will water my garden, and drench my flowerbed.” And look, my canal became a river, and my river became a sea.
32I will again make instruction shine like the dawn, and I will make these things known to those far away.
33I will again pour out teaching like prophecy, and leave it to all future generations.
34See that I have not labored for myself alone, but for all who seek her.
